What shopping trolley best suits my needs?

The most important questions to ask yourself when choosing your shopping trolley are:
  • What is my shopping trolley usage?
  • What shopping trolley features are important to me?
  • Do I have any limitations?

What is my shopping trolley usage?

The most important question when selecting your shopping trolley is to think about what you will be using it for. Andersen has created a range of shopping trolleys for an array of specific uses, so that they can cater for everyone’s needs. Your trolley usage will determine the type of frame, wheels and bag that will be better suited to you. For instance are you going to tackle rough terrain? The best shopping trolleys to cope with trickier surfaces from cobbles to off-road will have larger wheels. And ball bearing wheels will also turn more easily, meaning they’ll roll better over any ground.

What shopping trolley features are important to me?

Once you have had a think about what you will be using your trolley for you can then think about the features you would like it to have. We would recommend prioritising these features and deciding which is the most important to you, as not all trolleys come with all features. Here is a list of features you may want to consider when choosing your trolley:

Concerning the frame:

Concerning the bag:

Do I have any limitations?

This is an important question as it may narrow down your choice by a large amount. The most common limitations people have when buying a shopping trolley are: price, height, weight and terrain.

Price

If you are working to a budget then price may be an obvious limitation. If this is the case then we would recommend sticking with the classic, strong Scala frame. It is sturdy and strong being made from steel and can hold up to 50kg so is more than enough to fulfil your shopping needs. If budget allows you could always opt for the lighter Scala plus frame, made from aluminium, which has a foldable base for easier storage.

Height

If height is a limitation because you are above or below average height then you should choose between the height adjustable frames: Alustar, Unus and Quattro. These will ensure that you can have the handle as high or as low as you like, with the added bonus of being very stable, easy to use, frames.

Weight

If weight is an issue as you wish to lift the frame in and out of a car for example or generally lift and carry the frame often, the best options are the Scala plus or the Alustar as both are very light being under 2kg.

Terrain

If you are buying a trolley specifically for frequent off road or rough terrain use than you should opt for a trolley with a larger frame, which aids stability, and wheels with a minimum of 25cm diameter. Any smaller and you run the risk of getting stuck in the mud – literally! So the frames you are looking at here are the Royal, Royal plus and the Tura, all of which have with a selection of wheels 25cm or larger.

Whatever your selection, you are guaranteed a high quality shopping trolley that will last. Hopefully this will help you better understand the choice that is out there so that you can choose the best shopping trolley for you. So make your selection carefully then enjoy getting trollied!
